Welcome to the family archive for the Lippo family. Here is our history:

Maddalena Falcone was born in Cosenza of Calabria, Italy on August 17th, 1886. She then immigrated from Southern Italy and arrived at Ellis Island on April 23, 1900.

Luigi Lippo was born on November 10th, 1884. He also immigrated from Cosenza and arrived at Ellis Island on June 21st, 1901.

Both Maddalena and Luigi left New York City shortly after arriving, and both moved to South Philadelphia – where they met and fell in love.

After marrying in Philadelphia on August 6th, 1903, they had 10 children together during their marriage.

This archive was created from the scrapbooks that were kept by Maddalena’s daughters - Ida Massamiano and Rosemary Scott.

Rosemary’s granddaughter, Rachael Reitano, worked with her childhood best friend, Sama Askari, to then make these scrapbooks come alive digitally through this online exhibit for the Lippo family and their descendants.

The exhibit includes a collection of prayer cards from Catholic funeral services across multiple generations, photos of all the Lippos starting from 1909 through the 2000s, as well as hand-written genealogical records that were created in the 1980s.
